About the course

This course explores factors and processes that lead to social and educational exclusion of disabled people in our contemporary society; exploring legislations/ public policies in relation to disability and their practical and cultural implications for disabled people, reflecting on ways in which the lives of disabled people might be improved in the ways they are supported with a special focus on Africa today.

Course Format – Day 1

  • 9:00 am – 10:45 am – Online lecture and discussion task
  • 10:45 am – 11:00 am – Break
  • 11:00 am – 12:45 pm – Online lecture and written task
  • 12:45 pm – 1:45 pm – Lunch Break
  • 1:45 pm – 3:00 pm – Online lecture and reading task
  • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Presentation task and Q&A
  • 4:00 pm – End of Day 1

Assessment

  • Mixed Assessments: You will be assessed through various methods, including your contributions during discussion tasks and an online short answer and multiple choice test.
